HAPPY HALLOWEEN
The kids had a blast on Halloween. They showed off their amazing costumes at the parade, and then came back to the classroom to make a Monster Bookmark and to enjoy some healthy Halloween goodies.
Thanks to all the parents that helped out!
Our Brains On Growth Mindset
At the end of our unit Who We Are, we had a great time creating brain caps to help us remember all we had learned about the parts of the brain, neurons, neural pathways, neuroplasticity. We hope these caps will help us remember to always go forth with a growth mindset.
We Are Authors!
During this last unit of Writing Workshop, the children wrote personal narratives - stories from their own lives. They each chose one of their stories to revise, edit, and publish. They worked very hard to make sure their published stories were beautifully written and illustrated. Today they shared thei stories with their friends and gave each other positive feedback. The stories were very interesting, full of details, transition words, feelings, and dialogue!
Sorry, the pictures won't send from the iPad. Hope to post them soon.
They finally showed up, two weeks later!

Scientists at Work
The students got in small groups to perform an experiment to help them understand weahtering (and erosion). Each group had a sugar cube and some water in a dropper. The scientists' job was to observe carefully to see what happens to the sugar cube when water is dropped onto it. There were lots of, "OOOhs" and "Ahhhs" as they watched the sugar cube slowly dissolve, and then discussed their observations with their group members. The goal is to transfer that knowledge to the real world to better understand weathering (and erosion).
(The sugar cube represented a rock, and the water represented rain, or a river, or....)

LANDFORMS
Check out these awesome landforms! The students worked so hard on their presentations and were so brave and well-prepared. The students asked great questions of their classmates and learned so much from one another!
